The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) has launched a free Jewellery Job Seeker Directory to support professionals in the UK jewellery sector who are actively seeking employment.
The directory is now open for submissions from individuals with the right to work in the UK and will be made accessible to employers once a sufficient number of candidates have registered.
Addressing Talent Retention Challenges
The initiative responds to workforce pressures in the trade, with rising redundancies prompting concerns over talent retention. The NAJ states the directory will list individuals with jewellery-specific experience across areas such as retail, manufacturing, design, and repair.
Currently in beta, the directory will be updated as more job seekers register. The NAJ has indicated plans to continue developing the resource as part of its support for members and the wider industry.
Resource for Industry Recruitment
Professionals are invited to complete an online form to be added to the directory. Once open to businesses, the directory will offer access to registered job seekers with relevant industry experience.
Ben Massey, Chief Executive of the NAJ, said:
“At a time when our industry faces workforce challenges, it is vital that we support talent staying within the trade. This directory is a practical step to help jewellery professionals remain visible to employers and connect employers with the skilled people they need. We call on trade organisations across the UK jewellery sector to share this initiative through their networks. Together we can retain and nurture the talent that underpins our industry.”
Implications for the Trade
The directory is intended to address immediate employment challenges and may inform future workforce planning within the trade. Its use will depend on participation from job seekers and employers.Jewellery professionals interested in joining the directory can register via the NAJ’s website.
