While white metals such as platinum and white gold have been the predominant choice for engagement and wedding rings for the past 20 years or so, yellow gold has made a huge resurgence in recent years.

A rich, luxurious colour and with the right design it has untold beauty. We have been looking out for some spectacular designs that we hope you’ll love..

Choosing a yellow gold wedding ring

There are several things to think about when choosing a yellow gold wedding ring. The first is how it is going to complement your engagement ring. Ideally you want to buy the wedding ring while you also have the engagement ring with you, so that you can try them on toghether and ensure that they fit together well.

Part of this is ensuring that the rings have the same ring profile ie. their cross-section. This is important to ensure that the rings complement each other and are comfortable when worn together.

It’s a good idea to ensure your engagement ring and wedding ring are the same purity of gold ie. if your engagement ring is 14k gold, your wedding ring should be too. This is important so that they don’t scratch each other, but also so that they both ‘age’ at the same rate. When you wear a ring every day it will pick up ‘patina’, which is the signs of aging. Patina isn’ necessarily bad, it tells the story of your rings, but if one of your rings displays more than the other, it may look a little strange.
