Beaverbrooks has launched a nationwide competition offering engaged couples the chance to win up to £1,000 of jewellery by sharing the story behind their proposal.
The initiative accompanies the retailer’s Proposal Map of the UK, which ranks 15 engagement locations using Instagram hashtag data.
Lake District Tops Proposal Map
The Lake District ranked first with 4.7 million hashtags, followed by the London Eye with 3.5 million and Tower Bridge with three million.
The Peak District and the Isle of Skye completed the top five. Other locations on the list include Stonehenge, Glen Coe, the Brecon Beacons, Giant’s Causeway, Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, York Minster, St Michael’s Mount and the White Cliffs of Dover.
The ranking is based on the number of Instagram hashtags associated with each location, rather than confirmed proposal figures. It therefore measures their visibility on the platform, rather than the number of engagements taking place at each site.
Couples Invited to Submit their Stories
The competition is open to couples who are already engaged. Entrants must submit their proposal story through the Beaverbrooks website by 25 September 2026. One couple will receive Beaverbrooks jewellery worth up to £1,000.
Sarah Kelso, branch manager at Beaverbrooks Birkenhead, said: “We also know that every proposal is unique, and the most meaningful locations are often those with a personal connection.
“That’s why we’re also inviting Birkenhead couples to share the story behind where they got engaged for the chance to win their wedding jewellery from Beaverbrooks.”
Relevance to the Wedding Jewellery Sector
The competition links the proposal stage with subsequent jewellery purchases, including wedding rings and jewellery worn at the ceremony.
For jewellery retailers, the period between an engagement and a wedding can involve several purchasing decisions. The campaign demonstrates how proposal-related content and customer stories can be used to promote wedding jewellery to couples who have already entered that buying cycle.
