GIA Opens Enrolment for New London Campus Ahead of August 2026 Launch

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has opened enrolment for its new London campus, with classes scheduled to begin in August 2026.

The new GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry Arts campus will be located in Canary Wharf and will replace the institute’s existing London facility, which has operated since 2002.

According to GIA, the move will increase teaching capacity and expand the range of programmes available to students in London.

    Expanded Educational Offering

One of the key additions at the new site will be the introduction of the GIA Jewelry Design & Technology programme in London for the first time.

The programme will complement the school’s existing gemmology and jewellery design courses and broaden access to technical and vocational jewellery education in the UK capital.

Pritesh Patel, president and chief executive officer of GIA, said: “GIA takes great pride in providing premier education through our programs. Our new London campus will allow us to further advance our mission to ensure confidence in gems and jewelry by making education more globally accessible and offering the highest quality gem and jewelry education.”

    Canary Wharf Location

The new campus will be based in Canary Wharf. GIA said the location was selected for its transport connections and proximity to retail businesses.

Mehdi Saadian, GIA UK education director, said: “I am looking forward to the opportunities, growth and community building the new campus will bring.

“GIA students will experience a new, modern and centrally located campus. London’s Canary Wharf is a hub for high-end retail, providing students with a valuable real-world setting for observing modern jewelry merchandising and trends.”

    International Student Base

GIA said students from more than 50 countries have attended its London campus since it opened in 2002.

The new campus will increase teaching capacity in London and will introduce the Jewelry Design & Technology programme to the city for the first time. The programme will provide an additional local training option for students and jewellery professionals seeking education in jewellery development and production.

The London school is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

GIA said open days and a formal opening event will take place in autumn 2026, with further details to be announced. For more info, visit https://www.gia.edu/gem-education/london/overview
