    JamesAllen.com made everything so easy. In my case I had to special order a size not offered on the website. A quick chat with a customer service representative and a custom order was set up.

    I chose a diamond using the selector WebApp. The closeup, rotating image of the actual diamond was a HUGE help. What’s better, there were no additional charges for the custom order due to the smaller ring size.

    Three weeks later the ring arrived in beautiful packaging. A week after that my I asked my, now, fiance to marry me during a trip to Europe. I’m not sure if she was more happy because I asked, or because of the beauty of her ring. She absolutely loves her ring, and she’s received many compliments!

    What a beautiful ring! I am absolutely thrilled with it (and hoping my fiance-to-be will be too).

    I live in the UK and bought an engagement ring from the US based site James Allen, importing a ring when I live less than 1 hour’s drive away from Birmingham’s Jewellery quarter may seem like an odd choice, and I agree it is. However for me I feel it was the right choice.

    I visited James Allen off the back of the strength of reviews I could see on review sites and comments I found in forums and blogs. I was particularly impressed with the 360 degree 20X magnification feature to view the loose diamonds when creating a ring. It was easy to identify inclusions and compare diamonds using this feature. I was also impressed with the level of detail and customisation available, like symmetry, polish, fluorescence, girdle thickness, length/width ratio etc. Despite not actually being able to see the diamond, I felt like I was making an informed choice.

    James Allen was able to satisfy some of the other requirements that are important to me regarding buying a ring such as conflict free, GIA certification. In addition to this I found the customer service excellent. I used the live chat regarding a question relating to UK to US ring size conversion and got a reply back almost immediately, and an answer to my question within a minute or so. When I contacted via email I received a very friendly response within 30 minutes.

    Since I wanted to keep the purchase of the ring a secret I got it delivered to my workplace instead of my home, this did cause a little complication with customs as they held the item while waiting for me to provide VAT registration details, I had to write an email explaining that I was importing the item as an individual and it was not related to the business, although this did make the process of importation a little bit more difficult, it wasn’t too painful. My advice to anyone thinking of doing the same would be to make it very clear to the James Allen that you are importing as an individual despite having it delivered to a work address.

    In the end I saved a small sum (about Â\£200) on importing the ring (even after paying a 2.5% duty and 20% VAT rate on import) compared to if I had bought an equivalent ring online in the UK. This was a fairly minor saving stacked up against the total cost of the ring, however I felt the James Allen website was leagues in front of other websites I had visited in relation to the amount of meaningful information provided, technology utilised (360 degree visualisation) and guarantees (free resizing, money back guarantee). The reason I went ahead with the purchase on James Allen was more to do with the experience on the website than the money I saved.

    I am extremely pleased with the whole experience and the gorgeous ring, I just hope that my fiancee feels the same way 🙂

    this ring is absolutely beautiful. I bought an asscher diamond, the quality and likes of which I could never have found here. With the value for the price and the 360 degree and close up views, I will never buy a diamond anywhere else. i also like the conflict free. I only wish I could afford to buy many more!

    Not knowing what I was doing, I originally went to see the usual suspects at Hatton Gardens and had a not-brilliant experience. It felt like they were trying to close the sale straight away, while I wanted to do my own research and make my own decision.
    Looking online, I looked at some UK jewellers and compared them to American ones too, who seemed to have more selection and be able to provide better images of the individual diamonds themselves.
    In the end I got a beautiful 1 carat Vs2 clarity excellent cut round diamond for way less than I would have paid in the UK, even allowing for import duty, etc.
    A bit of a wait for it to arrive, but definitely worth it. Would recommend.

    I ordered a diamond ring from James Allen to propose to my now fiancé in Barbados. The first ring I received I did not like that much. James Allen worked with me every step of the way to provide me with the right diamond. They provided me with a return label and confirmed once the new diamond was sent. I thought I would not receive the item in time before my trip. However due to their great customer service I got it in time. We are definitely using them again for our wedding bands!!

    My experience purchasing a diamond and engagement ring was very very positive. I’m a geologist, and have studied all about crystals which includes diamonds. There is not another online diamond store where you can see in extreme detail, the actual gemstone you are purchasing. The website allows the buyer to very selectively choose filters. This allows the buyer to only see diamonds that match your criteria.
    No other website has these combined features. When my purchase arrived, the engagement solitaire was even more beautiful than the online image. I am extremely happy with the sales staff professionals who answered my many questions. I have now shared Jamesallen.com with friends and others who are also impressed. Congratulations with creating a fabulous website and business model. There is not a local jewellery store that can compare.

    I ordered a .51 Marquise diamond in a solitaire setting – with a 18k gold comfort fit ring. The purchase was done on the 13th Jan and I received my order (in the UK) by Fedex on the 21st Jan – superb!!!.
    The overall experience was amazing with James Allen – I had a very professional, friendly and helpful customer service agent – by the name of Avi. She was great – i asked as many question i could possibly think of and he had an answer to put my mind of ease. i even told her the setting and stone i’m looking to get and she pointed me to ring similar that I could get an idea of the finished product. That honestly, made the decision for me!. I’ve been to London’s Hatton garden’s to try and find the “perfect ring” – but couldn’t find anything that caught my eye or the customer service to go with it.
    So now i’m off to Venice to pop the question – i’m sure this ring will seal the deal. Thanks James Allen!
